RADNOR, Pa. (May 12, 2022) – Appellate Law Group LLC is pleased to announce that founder Virginia Hinrichs McMichael has received the Lynette Norton Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Commission on Women in the Profession. The award recognizes and encourages female attorneys who excel in litigation skills and who are devoted to mentoring female lawyers. McMichael was presented with the award on May 11 at the Commission on Women in the Profession Annual Conference held as part of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Annual Meeting in Hershey.

The Norton Award was created in memory of Lynette Norton, a founding member of the PBA Commission on Women in the Profession who died in 2002. Norton was an advocate for young women in the legal profession and worked to promote literacy and women’s rights.

“I am honored to receive the Lynette Norton Award and to be recognized by my peers for my mentorship and body of work as a litigator,” said McMichael. “I have dedicated my career to ensuring clients receive the vigorous representation they deserve throughout the appellate process and enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience with young women litigators. I deeply appreciate this recognition from the PBA.”

McMichael is a female entrepreneur whose practice focuses on civil appeals in Pennsylvania. Since its founding in 2013, Appellate Law Group has consistently outperformed the benchmarks for reversals in the Pennsylvania Superior Court. McMichael has more than 39 years’ civil trial and appellate experience spanning many substantive areas including business disputes, personal injury, medical malpractice, family law, and international.

McMichael is active within the legal community as a member of the PBA’s Commission on Women in the Profession, Appellate Advocacy Committee, Civil Litigation Section, Family Law Section, and Solo and Small Firm Section. She has served as a mentor to many young lawyers, sharing her experience regarding appellate issues, career goals and litigation strategy through the PBA’s mentoring program. McMichael’s firm actively supports The Appellate Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering law students of color to help them become successful appellate lawyers and judges.

The Pennsylvania Bar Association strives to promote justice, professional excellence, and respect for the law. Through their programs, they work to improve public understanding of the legal system and facilitate access to legal services. They also provide professional guidance to lawyers in the Philadelphia area.
