Virginia McMichael spent 15 years as an elected Township Supervisor in East Whiteland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. During her tenure on the Board of Supervisors, McMichael gained valuable insight and experience into matters involving municipal law, land use planning, bonds, tax assessments, and labor disputes.
Virginia is one of those rare elected officials who listens to both sides of a discussion and makes a decision based on what will be best for the long term. Her analytical and strategic thinking skills make her a quick study that allows her to lead discussions with groups as diverse as the engineers designing the clean-up of Super Fund site and neighbors concerned about barking dogs. As Chairman of the Board, Virginia has demonstrated her abilities at conflict resolution and problem solving; when arguments break out during public meetings, she steps in to diffuse tension and induce compromise. When she works with property owners proposing large developments she has never failed to recommend, when appropriate, a creative touch to highlight the human scale of the proposal. You can always count on Virginia to rise to the occasion when presented with something she is passionate about.
